Selection Process:

The WINDPOWER 2010 Conference Program Committee is composed of over 100 wind energy industry experts, and organized by Program Chairs Stephen Krebs, Partner, Baker Botts LLP, and Andrew Oliver, Vice President of Technologies, RES Americas Inc. This committee will review all abstracts received by the Monday, September 28, 2009 deadline with the ultimate goal of forming a highly educational and informative conference program that addresses topical and timely wind energy industry issues.

Primary criteria:

  • This year's conference theme - Wind Energy: Powering America Forward, will focus on opportunities to grow an American industry that is increasingly sophisticated and competitive. Developers, owners and operators are always in search of innovative and entrepreneurial strategies to help build a U.S. industry that is poised for maximum return and global leadership. Abstracts should consider perspectives, methods and strategies for maintaining and increasing profitability in an environment of technical, economic and political change.
  •  Work is new or presents a new perspective or data on known material.
  • Abstracts are well organized and clearly describe their relevance to the industry--describing how the information presented could be applied or used in practice. Applicants are encouraged to use case studies, offer solutions, and include specifics.
  • Keep in mind that the conference audience is a mix of beginners and experts, but abstracts should offer in-depth content.
  • Business and Policy abstracts should be practical and stray from being too general. Technical and scientific abstracts should be specialized with detailed information.
  • No Marketing Materials. Consultants and manufacturers may submit abstracts of a non-commercial nature, but all obvious commercial sales pitches will not be accepted for a presentation. Being selected to present at WINDPOWER 2010 is a privilege and recognizes you as a top industry expert. We frequently hear from attendees objecting to the commercial nature of some presentations--including a sales pitch will only diminish your reputation in the eyes of conference attendees.

Note: While we are pleased when a speaker chooses to be a sponsor or exhibitor representative, a speaking slot is never guaranteed for exhibitors or sponsors. All accepted presentations are based on overall merit and/or slot availability.
